Posted on 17/05/2022

We’re delighted to stock a range of Konjac Beauty Sponges for only £6.00.

What is Konjac?

If you’re looking for a product that’ll gently cleanse your skin without the use of brushes, scrubs, soaps or lotions, try using a konjac facial sponge. These have been brought to the UK from Japan where they been used for centuries, initially used by Japanese farmers to cleanse a baby’s skin using Konjac (a porous root vegetable) then its benefits as a gentle but effective daily facial cleanser were discovered.

The benefits of these amazing sponges that are suitable for all skin types include:

They are infused with different active minerals and vitamins, and the colour indicates the additional benefits. Some examples of the ones in stock are shown below:

For people with oily and acne-prone skin, the charcoal konjac sponge helps to draw out excess sebum from the skin and prevents clogged pores and keeps acne breakouts at bay.

Those with sensitive skin types would be best suited to the natural konjac sponge which is white in colour and naturally infused with skin loving vitamins and minerals. Since this has no added ingredients, it is pure and non-irritating.

Sustainability

These sponges are eco-friendly. Since they are entirely made from a plant they are 100% natural. No chemicals or unnatural additives are used, and when its time to replace it (it’ll start to breakdown from between 4-6 weeks) it’s fully compostable.

How to use

  1. After you get a sponge, soak it in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes. This will soften it, and help expand it to full size.
  2. Rinse face with warm water
  3. Once the sponge is full size, begin cleaning your face by moving the sponge in a circular motion, like a massage for your face.
  4. Start in the centre of your face and work your way out and up, avoiding the eye area.
  5. Use with just water, or you can add cleansing lotion if required

How to store and keep clean

There are some simple steps to follow to keep your sponge in tip-top shape.

  • Squeeze all the excess water out of your konjac sponge after every use
  • Hang it up to dry out of direct sunlight (and not on a radiator) in a well ventilated area
  • Once a week, drop the sponge in bowl of boiling water for a couple of minutes to sanitise it

At £6.00 these are a cost effective and sustainable way of treating your face to some TLC and would make a lovely gift too.  Available to purchase in our online shop https://bit.ly/3ljg7sC or at our shop in the reception of Cheltenham Reflexology and Massage at 1 St Margaret’s Terrace, St Margaret’s Road, Cheltenham GL50 4DT (Reception open from 10:00 a.m. Monday to Saturday)
