Valentine’s Day is just around the corner . The tradition of St. Valentine and the love associated with him goes back to Roman times. It is thought that the Emperor Claudius prohibited Roman soldiers from marrying as he wanted them to be fully committed to their duties. St Valentine is believed to have married these people in the Christian church and this is where his association with love stems from.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be expensive. Perhaps it just serves as a reminder that we need to take time for each other? This might just be turning off the t.v. and playing a game of cards or walking around a park, making time to chat.
