What are Electrotherapy Facials?

At “ProFacials” at Cheltenham Reflexology and Massage we offer a range of nourishing facials to improve dry, oily, dehydrated and sensitive skin. Using electrical equipment incorporated with facials has become popular since it was first used to benefit the medical world for burns and scars.

Skin tightening and lifting Electrotherapy Facials

Vacuum/ Lymphatic Suction

Vacuum suction facial originates from a traditional Chinese medicine therapy, known as cupping. The use of small glass tubes, called ventouses, allows smooth movement over the skin in the direction away from localized lymph nodes. This allows better lymph drainage, which boosts your immune system in case you become unwell by removing any waste products.

A small amount of oil is used to create a seal between the ventouse and the skin. Vacuum suction has also proven to improve the elasticity of your skin. This means your skin will tighten and the tissue muscles will be lifted.

The treatment is very relaxing, because of the slow, gentle movements with the oil it is similar to a face massage, only using suction instead of pressure.

Microcurrent

Microcurrent was first used in the 1980s, when it was used to repair bone damage and fractures. Over time, it has worked wonders in the beauty industry. It is used to improve muscle tone in the face and neck, along with aided lymphatic drainage and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. This is because it stimulates cell growth and repair so that collagen and elastin production is boosted, improving the overall look and tightness of your skin.

The treatment itself involves gentle lifting of the skin but has no sensation at all; meaning it is relaxing and soothing for the client. Microcurrent treatments are essentially non-surgical facelifts.

Radiofrequency

Radiofrequency facials are skin tightening treatments that use radiofrequency energy to heat the skin with the purpose of stimulating collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production below the surface of the skin in order to eliminate or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

It is a highly effective alternative to a facelift; in that it tightens the skin and improves the elasticity.

Diamond Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that removes the top layer of dead skin cells. The treatment is beneficial for any skin type as it is non-invasive. It can effectively reduce and eliminate wrinkles, acne, age spots, scars, and stretch marks. It increases blood flow to the skin, boosting collagen production and giving your skin a healthy glow.

This treatment involves a tip covered with tiny diamonds, together with a strong suction which removes dead skin cells. This exfoliates the skin more thoroughly than most other procedures.
